Design

BIRDIE

The Cape Club’s 2016 redesign completely reimagined the former Ballymeade layout, with expansive bunkering, contoured fairways, and elevated greens.

It’s a bold, modern course with plenty of eye appeal. The wide fairways make it forgiving off the tee, but the heavily protected greens demand precise approach shots.

While the redesign added drama, some may find the shaping a bit overdone, with bunkers that feel more decorative than strategic. Still, it’s a strong layout that rewards smart play.

Playability

PAR

This is a course that caters to a wide range of golfers—provided they can handle the slick greens and deep bunkers.

The fairways are generous, which makes it playable for higher handicaps, but recovery shots can be punishing. The green complexes are well-guarded, and while they’re not overly severe, they require solid approach play.

The par-5s offer birdie chances, but a few forced carries might frustrate casual players.

Views

PAR

The rolling terrain, tree-lined fairways, and elevated tee shots create some great visual moments. There are no real ocean views (other than a distant peek from an elevated tee box), which may be a letdown for some Cape golfers, but the overall setting is picturesque, especially at sunrise or sunset.

Vibe

PAR

The Cape Club delivers a polished, semi-private experience, and that’s both a positive and a negative. The facilities and staff are top-notch, and the atmosphere is refined yet welcoming.

However, the high-end branding comes with a price, and at times, the experience feels more about luxury than pure golf.

If you're looking for a laid-back, classic Cape Cod golf vibe, you might find it a bit too polished and corporate.

Condition

EAGLE

The course is maintained to a high standard, with lush fairways, smooth greens, and well-raked bunkers. The greens roll true, and the fairways are typically in excellent shape. This is undoubtedly one of the best-conditioned public courses in the area.

Practice Areas

BIRDIE

A solid practice facility with a driving range, short game area, and putting green. It’s not the most expansive setup on the Cape, but it’s more than adequate to warm up before a round.

19th Hole

BIRDIE

The clubhouse restaurant and bar offer a high-end post-round experience with excellent food and drink options. The outdoor patio is a great spot to unwind, with a polished atmosphere that leans more country club than casual golf hangout.

Prices are on the high side (not surprising, given the course’s positioning), but the quality is solid. If you’re looking for a relaxed dive-bar-style 19th hole, this isn’t it—but if you want a refined setting with good food and drinks, it delivers.

Logo

PAR

A clean and modern design that fits the course's aesthetic. While it’s not an iconic Cape Cod golf logo, it’s sharp enough to look good on apparel.

Memorability

PAR

The Cape Club markets itself as a premium public course, and the rates reflect that—often reaching well north of $150 in peak season. While the conditions are excellent, the cost feels excessive compared to similarly conditioned courses in New England.

The high-end feel is nice, but for that price, you'd expect a course with more memorable holes or a stronger connection to the Cape’s natural beauty. If you're willing to pay for the luxury experience, it’s worth it.

If you're looking for the best bang for your buck, you might leave feeling overcharged.
