Design

Cotuit Highgrounds is mainland Cape Cod’s best challenge to the Vineyard’s Royal Chappy. Like Chappy, this is a par 3 course is anything but traditional – it is steeped in history, legends, and alcohol. When you are on the course, you have to ask yourself: how did this magical place come to exist – and why aren’t more people here?
The course packs as much fun as possible into a tiny plot of land on prime Cape Cod real estate.
Playability
BIRDIE
This course oozes fun for kids to the elderly. The small greens and some tight windows can certainly cause some problems, but the course is a bunch of par three holes that can be tackled by beginners and veterans.
We recommend lightening your bag to just a few clubs and walking with a beer (or two.)
Views
BOGEY
There’s not much in the way of views on the course as you are nestled among the Cape Cod pines, but this is not necessarily a bad thing as you feel isolated from the rest of the world – in your own magical little space.
Vibe

Vibes are incredible. If you get a chance to talk to some of the regulars who hang out at the course and bar, make sure you leave with some stories about the epic matches and hijinks that made this place what it is today.

The super small greens are not spectacular, but they are not bad! Especially for a course that operates on a shoestring budget.

19th Hole
EAGLE
Some may say that this is a bar with a golf course. Not us. The bar and course are equals in our mind.
When your 19th hole could easily be mistaken for a dive bar, you are doing something right.

The ship could be cool, but is overly complicated. If this course took a page out of Royal Chappy’s book and invested in branding, we think that Cotuit’s fans would jump at the chance to represent this course on merch…
