A glimpse behind the gates…

Originally crafted by Jack Nicklaus Design, the course at Ocean Edge Resort in Brewster offers a solid Cape Cod layout with a mix of open fairways and tree-lined corridors. The routing is a bit tight in spots, with some forced carries and doglegs keeping you on your toes.

The bunkering is strategic but not overwhelming, and the greens have subtle breaks that reward solid approach shots.

This is a private course with resort guest access, so it caters to a mix of skill levels. The fairways are generous enough for casual players, but the course does demand accuracy in places—especially with water hazards lurking on a few holes.

The greens can be slick, and the rough is penal in spots, making it a challenge if you're offline. It’s playable for most, but mid- and high-handicappers may struggle with some of the tougher approach shots.

Set among tall pines and rolling Cape Cod terrain, the course has a secluded, peaceful feel. While it doesn’t have the jaw-dropping coastal views of some Cape courses, the natural surroundings and occasional glimpses of Brewster’s scenic charm make for a pleasant round. A few elevated tee boxes provide nice vantage points, but this course is more about classic Cape beauty than dramatic ocean vistas.

Ocean Edge strikes a balance between upscale private club and relaxed resort course. The staff is welcoming, and while it doesn’t have the exclusive feel of some of the Cape’s top-tier private tracks, it’s still a refined experience.

The resort aspect means you’ll encounter a mix of locals, members, and vacationers, which keeps the atmosphere friendly.
