Sandwich Hollows
Regardless of how you play, you’ll likely remember the quirky features that you’ll encounter along the way.

18 Holes, Par 71
Design
PAR
Since 1999, a true municipal course - run by the town of Sandwich.
Some nice elevation changes throughout. At various points you feel like you are descending into the hollows.
No frills. But, not boring as there are some quirky surprises along the way.
Holes are separated - fairly isolated.
Some fun par 3s.
Front nine and back nine have very different feels. Apparently, the firm that did the front nine was replaced by someone else for the back.
Playability
PAR
Much of the holes feature small-ish landing areas and small greens.
Views
BOGEY
Not a ton of expansive views, as the course feels deep in the hollows of the woods.
But, there are several fun downhill holes that present interesting views.
Vibe
PAR
No frills, blue-collar vibe.
Condition
PAR
Good, not great. But better than what you might expect from a muni course.
While greens are small, they are kept in nice shape.
Practice Areas
BOGEY
Nice putting area near the first tee.
19th Hole
PAR
There’s a no frills pub and we wouldn’t want it any other way.
Logo
DOUBLE BOGEY
Sorry, just an outline of the Cape is not cutting it… we’d love to see a fun alternate (or main) logo get introduced. Maybe a play on the hollows?
Memorability
PAR
Not the most memorable course, but you’ll likely remember the quirky features that you’ll encounter like the SHGC letters cut into the bushes or the chapel-like tomb that lines a fairway.
A bit of a breath of fresh air among several area overpriced courses, SHGC is fairly priced, presenting a great value option.
If you are looking to play one course on your Cape Cod vacation week, there are probably better options. But Sandwich Hollows presents a nice option for locals who want good value, an unpretentious environment, and a solid track.
Join us on our quest to play all of the courses on Cape Cod. Here’s a handy reference of all of the public and private options. How many have you played? Which course (and logo) is your favorite?
