When you need a break from the beach, it consistently delivers what you’d expect: a quality, yet challenging loop.

Yarmouth has Bayberry and Bass River, Dennis has Dennis Pines and Dennis Highlands.

Only tips out at 6500 yards, but the classic Cape Cod pines and sand provide plenty of defense.

Much more wide open than the narrow sister course, Dennis Pines. Don’t get us wrong, Highlands has plenty of trees, they’re just not as thickly dense and punishing.

Interesting elevation changes and well-placed bunkers cause most tee shots to really get your attention.

Interesting greens too with multiple tiers and undulations.

Playability

PAR

An accessible course for high handicappers, but more than enough variety to keep low handicappers interested.

Refreshingly, we did not lose many balls.

Views

PAR

All the trees and sand that you’d expect from an inland Cape Cod course, with nice undulations that keep it visually interesting.

Vibe

PAR

Like the Yarmouth courses, the Dennis courses get a lot of regular and vacation play, so it needs to be run efficiently.

At times, this can sometimes give it a factory-like vibe vs. a welcoming vacationland vibe, but it generally keeps the groups moving on time.

Condition

PAR

Greens were rolling nice at fair speeds.

Fairways were mostly fine, but the traffic can beat up some spots.

Logo

DOUBLE BOGEY

For a course that gets so much regular and visitor play, we feel like there’s an opportunity to do so much more than this rather boring logo - and sell more merchandise!

Memorability

PAR

While not the most memorable, Dennis Highlands is just a solid public option. When you need a break from the beach, it consistently delivers what you’d expect: a quality, yet challenging loop.

Most of the inland Cape courses just don’t have as much to work with as those with water views, but Dennis Highlands is an above average option that would make a great local go-to or a course that you play once a year on your vacation visit to the Cape.
