Highland Links

Is the course that is located the farthest distance down the Cape worth the drive? Absolutely.

Design

EAGLE

Cape Cod’s oldest course (1892!)

Oldest public course in Massachusetts.

Oldest links course in America.

True links style with Scottish feel

Natural (non-irrigated) fairways.

Is this Carnoustie? OK, not quite, but this is one of the very few spots on Cape Cod (and America) where the fescue meets the ocean.

Playability

BIRDIE

The playability is largely depending on the conditions: it can get really windy and the fescue can get really long.

In general, the relatively short layout is fair for all talent levels, but if you have an off day you'll find yourself very familiar with the fescue.

Depending on the time of the year, the length of fescue can change from difficult to impossible to play out of.

Greens are really slow, but the undulations keep them challenging.

Views

HOLE IN ONE

Doesn’t get any better than this on Cape Cod.

Incredible ocean views.

The minimal amount of trees on the course in this links style design keeps the ocean views unobstructed from many of the holes.

Iconic lighthouse viewable from nearly every spot on the course.

Vibe

EAGLE

The vibe is that you entered a secret world featuring a mix of Scottish and Cape Cod charm.

Worth the drive - much easier (and cheaper) than a trip to Europe!

Condition

BIRDIE

The condition is very seasonal and dependent on the weather.

The course made the impressive decision to keep the turf 100% natural - which means no chemicals. Instead, they use things like molasses (remember that when you leave your putt short), kelp, and soy to feed the grass organically!

Practice Areas

BOGEY

Very few pre-round amenities, but this is part of the old-school, natural charm.

19th Hole

BOGEY

Small cafe with very limited menu (~11 items), but the no frills nature of the cafe seems to fit.

Note well: No beer is served before 10am.

Logo

BIRDIE

Not the most exciting logo, but our hard rule is that you get bonus points whenever your logo says 1892 (looking at you too, Country Club in Brookline.)

Memorability

HOLE IN ONE

Highland's uniqueness would present an impressive experience if this was just a links course, or just an oceanside course, or just one of the oldest courses in America.

Combine all three and the overall experience is a must play for Cape visitors.

After only 9 holes, we bet you'll want to go around again!
