Plymouth Country Club

Plymouth CC is a fairly straightforward course when it’s not windy. It’s never not windy.

A glimpse behind the gates…

Another classic Ross whose presence you can feel throughout.

Gentle handshake on one, lots of false-front greens, and decisions to be made.

Do not let the Par 69 fool you. There are a bunch of very demanding par 4s. Some of which would definitely be par 5s at your local public track.

There’s also some diabolical par 3s. If the wind is up, good luck holding these greens!

There is tons of character throughout - most notably, there is an old rock wall that divides several holes and several large exposed rocks that will put the one with “1620” on it down the street to shame.

The most memorable hole is probably #5. It is a par 4, with your second shot going into a true “punchbowl” green, leaving you to decide between a multitude of shot options.

There’s a new-ish clubhouse with a large second-floor balcony that overlooks 18, which makes coming down the stretch especially intimidating if the hecklers are out!

Unlike some private courses where golf can get lost among the amenities, it is clear that PCC is all about the golf.

It is also clear that PCC made a significant push to attract a younger membership. There are a bunch of 20-30-somethings that regularly make the short drive from the Boston area. the result is a more laid back vibe than you’ll find at most other private clubs.

Disclaimer: we have held our invitational tournament, The Pilgrimage, at PCC since 2021. The PCC crew could not have been more accommodating hosts and the course absolutely delivered for a group of highly discriminating golfers.
